*The Domestic Course fees for this programme do not include 'Medical Humanities 2' through Unitec.
**The Domestic Course fees for this programme do include 'Medical Humanities 2' through Unitec.
Full-time fees apply to students enrolled in a full-time Diploma or Certificate. Full-time students must be enrolled to a minimum of 0.8 EFTS. Domestic fees apply to New Zealand citizens, New Zealand permanent residents and Australian citizens living in New Zealand. All other students are considered international.
Part Time Fees
Part-time fees apply to students enrolled in a Certificate or Diploma qualification that totals less than 0.8 EFTS. The fees are listed by individual courses in the Course Listings Booklet.
Study Costs
Books and Materials
In addition to tuition costs, students are required to buy books and materials. These typically range from $400-$1000 for the first year. Details on books and materials are provided to students upon completion of enrolment.
All required books are available from the College bookshop where they can often be purchased at below retail price or from specialised bookshops.
First Aid Certificate
Students are required to complete a recognised workplace First Aid Certificate prior to starting the clinical component of your programme. For this, students should enrol in a course run by an approved first aid provider.
First aid training fees are paid directly to the provider, please contact them for further information.
Diploma of Therapeutic Massage
Students enrolled in the Diploma of Therapeutic Massage course are required to pay an exam fee of $ 240 when they enrol for their final practical exam which takes place at the end of their course.
Resit and Marking Fees
Resit fees of $40 apply where students are required to re-sit a theory exam. The schedule of fees for practical resits is included in the Student Handbook.
Fee Policies and Procedures
Payment of Fees
Once we have received and accepted your completed Enrolment Form, we will give you an invoice. You will be formally enrolled once the invoice is paid in full. It must be paid in full within eight (8) working days of being received and prior to the start of your course.
If the invoice is not paid in full within the eight day period, the College may consider that you have withdrawn from enrolment and your application for enrolment may be cancelled if there is a waiting list.
Loans and Allowances
If you are a domestic student, you may qualify for a government tuition subsidy. Studylink handles all matters to do with loans and allowances for students.
It is essential that you contact them directly at your time of enrolment. All application forms are available from the Studylink website www.studylink.govt.nz. or phone 0800 88 99 00.
If you are a full-time student (0.8 EFTS or more), you are able to apply for both a student loan and student allowance. If you are studying part-time (at least 0.25 EFTS), you may be eligible for a student loan but not for an allowance.
Once you have sent your application to Studylink, you will get a receipt showing it has been received. You should keep this. If your application is pre-approved by Studylink, they will send a Verification of Study (VOS) request to Wellpark College. Once this is confirmed by the College, Studylink will re-assess your application and, if all the information is confirmed as correct, your application will be approved and your fees paid.
Withdrawals and Refund of Fees
If you withdraw PRIOR to the first day of the start of your *programme
of study, you will be entitled to a full refund (
see prospectus here
for further details )
a. If you withdraw within eight (8) calendar days after the start of
your programme* in which you have enrolled, you are entitled to a full
refund of tuition fees less a 10% administration fee or $500, whichever
is less.
Please note:
*start of your programme of study is the first day of your entire
enrolment period for which you are enrolled (this includes Semester 2
courses enrolled in prior to the start of Semester 1).
b. If you withdraw after eight (8) calendar days from the start of the
programme of study in which you have enrolled, no refunds can be made.
* A programme of study is defined as any course or courses that you
enroll in at any one time . If you enrol in additional courses during
the year, these constitute a separate programme of study.
Course Cancellations
If the College has to cancel a course for whatever reason, you will be refunded the weeks of unused tuition.
Deferral
Deferral of study will be made only in exceptional circumstances. These are set out in the Student Handbook.
If you wish to apply to defer your study to a later date, you need to apply in writing to Student Liaison. A deferral charge of $50 applies.
If your application is approved, you will have to re-enrol within 12 months and abide by any new tuition fee levels. As deferments are not recognised under Ministry of Education guidelines, they will be treated as withdrawals.
Fee Protection
Wellpark College has an arrangement in place with the Public Trust for protection of student fees. This will cover you for the length of your course and it ensures that you will receive a refund of fees for your unused tuition period of study if the College is unable to continue to offer your course.
Please direct any questions you may have to Wellpark College Student Liaison (domestic or international).
