The Prema Trust

The Prema Trust owns and has governance of Wellpark College of Natural Therapies. It is a registered charitable trust that has aims and objectives that link natural therapies with service to society.

The Aims and Objectives

  • Establishing a free Natural Therapies Hospital
  • Developing free mobile clinics to take natural therapies into communities of need
  • Supporting natural therapies research
  • Planting plantations of medicinal native plants to serve the environment and the needs of the natural therapies profession
  • Publishing papers, books and other publications that serve natural therapies
  • Building and maintaining multi-faith chapels which can be used by people of all religions, spiritual paths and persuasions for meditation, worship or prayer
  • Exploring the links between spirituality, psychology and healing and supporting endeavours that establish those links

The Prema Trust is committed to quality education that is infused with the values that form the foundation of natural therapies, following in the tradition of the natural therapies pioneers who gave so much wisdom and philosophy. It is committed to the recognition of natural therapies in New Zealand.

Board of Trustees

Chairperson Grant Litchfield LLB is a solicitor whose family has had a long time interest and involvement in natural therapies.

He has served for nine years as Chairperson on a school board. He has wide-ranging experience in law, including litigation, family law, environmental law and other areas and is on the legal aid subcommittee.

Secretary Paul Butler BSc MBCHB Dip Obs Member RNZCGP is a general medical practitioner of more than 30 years & is principal at his current Auckland North Shore clinical practice. He remains actively involved in establishing and co-ordinating nutritional, integrative or environmental medicine centred organisations and associations.

Jenny Cottingham MA. (Hons.) Psychology spent ten years practicing in psychotherapy and massage until co-founding Wellpark College with Phillip Cottingham.

She brings a deep interest in spirituality as it relates to health and healing and is currently developing a counselling/psychotherapy programme, based on the wisdom inherent in all the great spiritual traditions and, in particular, the Vedas.

Phillip Cottingham ND. BHSc. Dip. Hom. Dip Mass. MSPANT. is a registered naturopath, herbalist and body therapist with over twenty years in professional practice.

With many years of teaching experience in natural therapies, he co-founded Wellpark College in 1990 and has continued to guide the progress of the College to one of the largest institutions of its kind in Australasia. He has worked for many years with several organisations in establishing the role of natural therapies in New Zealand's healthcare, a role wherein he continues to serve the profession.

He has a vision of establishing integrated health care for all New Zealanders.

Peta Joyce, BA. has a background in social science and many years' experience in education, social change and therapeutic practice.

Peta is a qualified body-mind therapist and trainer, group facilitator, supervisor and mentor. She teaches throughout New Zealand and in the UK and runs her own practice in West Auckland.

Peta is passionate about holistic education and integrative healing and the development of integrative medicine in New Zealand.
